Adaptation of the stage play by Susan Cooper and Hume Cronyn. The story of Annie Nations, a 79-year-old widow who lives in an isolated Appalachian Mountain cabin. Her son Dillard wants Annie to move near him in Florida and a land developer wants to buy her farm to build vacation homes. Annie, who ""visits"" regularly with her deceased husband, Hector, must decide which is most important to her: Hector and the land, or Dillard and his family.
